Party People

We had a great, busy weekend! We celebrated our family Christmas on Saturday a.m. and had a wonderful morning!

Landon's also got a Hummer. He loves it but it tires us out b/c he has NO concept of how to steer (but he doesn't want mommy or daddy to touch the steering wheel to straighten him out).
He can do it BY HIMSELF!!!

This was his 1st time in his truck--clearly, he didn't understand the need to steer. : ) I wasn't quite ready for the "Look, mom! No hands" trick yet!

We then headed to the big "W" also known of Watauga and celebrated Gwen's 5th birthday! Big L had a blast and also loved the treats. : )

Note: ALL of the other kids are done eating & are off playing. Big L was not done eating yet. : )

Later that evening, Aaron and I headed out to the 2nd Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party!

Tonight, we had an fabulous evening with great friends for a little Christmas celebration!
Here Landon is with his beloved Jaime. He absolutely adores her. Sometimes when he is upset, he cries "My want Jaime! Jaime!"

Smarty pants

I know that all parents think that their kid is the best and we are clearly no exception. Landon is so fun and talkative lately and just surprises us every day! Here he is reading books with daddy!

I also have been trying to get a video of him singing. For some reason, he will sing often but NOT when I get out the video camera. I finally got him to sing a bit but we got interrupted:

(WARNING: I had to sing a bit also and it isn't so pretty. I have never claimed to be a singer!)

Then, he got his 2 year old 'tude going & decided he was DONE!

So, I had a little chat with Landon. I had a really inspiring heart to heart with him that got him to change his 'tude around. Okay, maybe not so much. I bribed him--I'm not too proud. The 'ole boy just wanted to go into the store because he knows that they have sample snacks. So, yeah, I told him that he could have a snack if he sang....it's all about speaking your child's language. So, he half heartedly obliged so he could get to the snack already....

It cracks me up that he was so anxious to be done but again, the snack was waiting and Landon was clearly wasting away....

Our fun day....a.k.a. Saturday

On Saturday, Aaron got invited to the TCU Football Game so Landon and I went to the Stockyards with our friends Matt, Krista, and Max! We had a great time and it was a beautiful 72 degree day!

Buddies! Landon is being the serious "bodyguard!"

We had to get a picture with Cowboy Claus!

Even Mommy jumped in for one! (Nope, I'm not ALWAYS behind the camera!!!)

My handsome boy on a "wide"

Max was showing Landon how to hold on! (apparently the people behind us didn't get the memo that it was 72 degrees and sunny outside)

What is a day in the stockyards without getting some "Longhorns?!" Landon wasn't too sure about it at first (he really wanted the balloon sword)
...but he warmed up to it!
ALL day long, the only thing he wanted to do was "wide a pony." Poor pony wasn't expecting a 43 pound 2 year old! 'Ole pony worked hard for his $7!!!

After daddy got home, we went to Bass Pro Shop. Despite Landon's serious demeanor, we had a great time!

My favorite part of the evening came when daddy went in to try on some pants and soon after a woman walked into the dressing rooms. I looked up and this was what I saw: (!!!!)
Landon wanted to "wide" the "twactor" outside. He put his seat belt on and said "Buckle up for safety!"Good boy!!!

On an unrelated note, tonight at dinner I had to laugh at Landon's blossoming imagination. I had cut him a piece of apple and he looked at me and said "Wook, mommy! A golf pub!" Sure enough, it did look like a golf club....so, of course, he then had to take a few swings at some crumbs on his plate! Just goes to show that anything can turn into a game of golf at our house!

Later tonight, daddy and Landon were playing basketball. Daddy likes to talk a big game and say that he is "raining thunder" when they play. Tonight, Landon made a basket & said to me "My waining tunder too mommy!" Later, he kept talking about his "big torm" (big storm)!!! You've got to love a 2 year old who talks smack!

ICE!

When my mom was here, we went to see "ICE" at the Gaylord Texan! It was awesome even though it was FREEZING in there (9 degrees anyone?!). "The Grinch" is the theme this year and it is amazing! All of the sculptures were so vibrant and whimsical--SOOO cool! The pictures don't do it justice but I tried anyway....

Yes, we wore their parkas and I also wore a down jacket of my own underneath it....and no, I was not sweating. I was glad that I had both of them on!

You can't tell how big all of the ice sculptures were until you see us in the picture!

The ice slide! Yes, we both went down it!

The Nativity Scene at the end!
