We had Landon's 4th Birthday Party on Saturday, August 13th(a little early!)! It was supposed to be at the pools.....BUT it rained on Friday night and Saturday morning. It did clear up by the afternoon (his party was in the afternoon!) but the storm left debris in the pools so they closed the whole complex. Now, it must be noted that it hasn't rained in our area since approximately March (okay, really mid-June) but OF COURSE it would happen the night before our party. Have I mentioned that they ONLY time they have closed the pool complex this year was on Saturday? After a prolonged panic attack, words of encouragement from Aaron and a few deep breaths, I decided that we had to get creative and make games for the 13 kids who were coming over to our house to play( ready or not)! We had a Star Wars theme since Landon is, well, obsessed!
The drinks!
Landon HAD to have a "bad guy" cake!
White chocolate covered pretzel "lightsabers!"
Goldfish are always a staple at a kid's party!
Fruit Snacks!
These Rice Krispie treats are in the shape of the Millennium Falcon and the TIE fighter!
Darth, Stormtrooper, and Yoda cookies!
Lightsabers that I made from pool noodles--great for the pool but if your pool party gets cancelled at the last possible second, they are good for boys who just want to hit each other!
Landon and Grady!
Connor!
Sam...waiting for his buddy Landon to come play!
...that's more like it!!! : )
Presley and Ella bounced when the crazy boys let them have a little time to themselves!
Even a family picture? WOW....thanks for taking this, Jamie!
Landon checking out the gifts (& was trying to peek in them, to be honest!)
He was QUITE excited!!!!
To get a 4 year old to read the card, you need to grip him TIGHTLY! :)
So sweet....giving his buddy, Christian, a hug!
Christian was explaining what he had picked out for Landon!
Jenny is ALWAYS SO clever--her card for Landon said "May the fours be with you!" If only I had thought of that....
Thanking Mr. Abe!
The boys have to check out the goods!
After presents, it was time to get out a little more energy--OUTSIDE! : )
This picture says it ALL about boys!!! Love it!
The kids were sufficiently tired in the evening and just chilled while watching a movie...
We even had a little fun with the presents!
Since I was coordinating the games and activities, I didn't get to take pictures during the events. So, here are a few things we did...
Pin the lightsaber on Yoda!
This was a nerf gun shooting game where they had to get the suction based bullet to stick in the target (hand prints all over the window are compliments of Presley) : )
We also did a balloon popping game where the balloons had candy in the middle of them which the kids loved as well! Since I didn't know where to put a pinata, this was the next best thing!!!!
All in all, we had a WONDERFUL party! It was definitely a "plan B" and made me sweat, but I had a lot of help from Aaron and great friends! The kids had a blast!
I am the mother of an ADORABLE little boy & BEAUTIFUL baby girl, the wife of a fantastic husband, and a misplaced "Michigander" living in Texas. Now, I'M the one with the accent. Hmmm...go figure. But, it's all good. I miss my life up North but now I've got my cowboy boots & I can say ya'll! If I add an extra syllable or two to every word, I sometimes sound like I fit in! I've got some really good friends in Texas too and really, life in Texas is good. : )
