2 1/2 is such a fun age! I mean, apart from the tempter tantrums, throwing himself on the floor when he is angry, & constantly testing the limits, it is a great age! If you can find the patience for all of the "I do it MYSELF, mommy" moments, it is a lot of fun! I see his creativity emerging and it just cracks me up! He is VERY into the movie "Toy Story" right now and the characters "Woody" and "Buzz." So, the other day we were outside playing golf (go figure!) and he came running over to me, grabbed my hand and whispered "Woody & Buzz ovahr dair, mommy. Dey gonna get me!" So, I had to go over to the side of the house with him as he tried to "sneak up" on Buzz and Woody! When we got there, he told me "Dey awll gone, mommy. Dey go home go night night!" He has done it a few times since both with the Toy Story characters and also with a "monker" (monster). The look he gets on his face is just so intense!
And, now he is able to tell me so much too! I just love it! The other day he was in the bathroom with me as I was getting ready and he saw the astringent on the counter. He looked at me and told me "Dat fowr my pimples, mommy!"
He also tells me every time I pick him up, "My a big boy, mommy!" I guess he heard that a lot when we were in Michigan when someone picked him up! So now, he just says it for you! : )
So, with Big L getting so big and independent, it is time to tackle potty training. In fact, potty training boot camp starts right after his nap. The potty is set up, the M & M's are waiting, the new underwear is ready, and the Elmo Potty DVD is just waiting to be watched. I am really dreading this but I bet it won't be as bad as I fear. Wish me luck!

We are starting the potty training this weekend, too!
Good luck! Griff just got it all of a sudden. He is doing great and our life is awesome with only night time diapers!
Jenny - how is it going for you? For us, he does pretty well except he won't poo on the potty. It's only been 1 1/2 days though....so maybe tomorrow?!!!
Jennifer--How old was Griff when he got it? I dream of only night time diapers!!!
It's going OK. He wants to go sit on the potty all the time, even when he doesn't need to go, which is WEIRD. And I have had people tell me that you are supposed to quit all diapers, but I just can't imagine doing that at night!
BTW, I was reading an article about potty-training boys and it said you should have the Dad model for him and if the Dad isn't around "You should find a neighbor or older kid in the neighborhood who would be willing to model the behavior." It then said "If this makes you uncomfortable, you can skip this step." Um yeah. I skipped reading the rest of the article. Freaks.
I know....Landon spends a lot of time just sitting there also. I suppose it doesn't help that we put a t.v. in there so that it would help the whole process! He doesn't do so well when he is out playing and telling us when he has to go. That is when the accidents happen. UGH. I'm debating if we should just skip this whole idea for now and revisit it in a month or two? I put diapers or a pull up on him at naptime and at bedtime. He absolutely DOES NOT CARE one bit if I put a diaper on him. Frustration!!
LOL re: the article! Can you imagine what people in the neighborhood would think if you asked a little kid to come over to "demonstrate" using the potty? You would have police at your door! FREAKAZOIDS!!!!!
